Prominent Lawyer Appointed as Acting Director of Public Prosecutions

Nancy Tikoisuva has been appointed as the Acting Director for Public Prosecutions (DPP). She received her official appointment letter from President Ratu Willame Katonivere yesterday.

Tikoisuva mentioned that she got the letter around 3:30 PM after John Rabuku left the position on Wednesday. She acknowledged the timing of her appointment, noting significant leadership changes within the office. She emphasized maintaining the strategic direction of the office and expressed gratitude to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for selecting her internally, highlighting the support from her team.

An experienced leader, Tikoisuva previously served as acting assistant director under Rabuku. With a strong legal background, she has worked with Toganivalu Legal law firm, as an External Academic with the University of the South Pacific (USP), and as a consultant for the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO). With over 18 years of experience, she graduated from USP in 2003 and earned her Masters in Law in 2022.

She is the second local female, the third female overall, and the first iTaukei female to hold this position in the DPP’s office. Tikoisuva encouraged her female colleagues to persevere and not be discouraged by bureaucratic challenges, urging them to let their work speak for itself.
