Climate change mitigation specialist Ranjila Singh has explained that the National Climate Change Finance Strategy prioritizes projects from both adaptation and mitigation sectors, aligning them with the National Development Plan. Singh discussed this during a panel at the Situation Analysis Workshop on Forest Landscape Restoration.
Singh stated that the majority of their current financial support aligns with the finance strategy. They have presented some of the project plans to the National Climate Change Committee, which will prioritize them based on government needs and priorities. Singh’s division has secured $5.7 million from the adaptation fund for 16 communities that requested nature-based sea walls.
The division works hand-in-hand with various agencies depending on the available funds, and also considers project funding requests from ministries.
