Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has promised the public that any formal complaints will be carefully evaluated before any actions are implemented.
Addressing concerns about recent photographs featuring FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions John Rabuku, and Minister for Justice Siromi Turaga, Rabuka remarked, “They were appointed by the appropriate authorities, and these issues have emerged during their tenure. Thus, it is up to the proper authorities to determine their future.”
He explained that any decision to suspend or take action against those involved will be made by the Constitutional Officers’ Commission (COC) and other relevant organizations.
“The decision to suspend will be the responsibility of the Commission, as it concerns individuals appointed by the COC along with others appointed by different authorities,” Rabuka stated.
He emphasized the need to wait for the decisions from these bodies before proceeding with any suspensions.
“Once those decisions are reached, the relevant investigative agencies will assess the situations and suggest further actions, whether it be termination or reinstatement.”
Rabuka reaffirmed his Government’s dedication to upholding the law and ensuring that due processes are followed in every case.
