Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka addressed concerns surrounding kava consumption during the opening of the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting held on Wednesday at Vuci Village. He called on the community to limit their kava intake, pointing out the growing issue of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country.
Mr. Rabuka noted that the council plays a vital role in addressing social problems within local areas. He urged village leaders to take steps to control kava consumption and stressed the importance of empowering individuals to better cope with current challenges.
The Prime Minister acknowledged various issues affecting Fijians, highlighting the necessity of a united approach to enhance lives and strengthen resilience. He also commended the province’s Strategic Development Plan, which aligns with the government’s objectives.
Mr. Rabuka emphasized that the Tailevu Provincial Council would focus on development this year, recognizing strong leadership as essential to achieving their goals.
