The safety of citizens during the upcoming festive and cyclone seasons relies heavily on the preparedness and proactive measures of law enforcement. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the newly appointed Divisional Police Commander for the East, emphasized this point during his recent operational readiness check parade held in Nausori.
This event marked SSP Cakacaka’s first parade in his new role, which was attended by officers from the Eastern Division. In his address, SSP Cakacaka called upon his team to consistently demonstrate professionalism, highlighting the importance of discipline and the values of integrity, respect, humility, and professionalism that define their roles as peacekeepers.
“As we enter the festive season, a time of joy and celebration for our communities, we must also recognize the unique challenges that come with it,” SSP Cakacaka remarked. He noted that the actions of police officers reflect not only on themselves but also on the entire Fiji Police Force, reinforcing the need for a responsible and vigilant approach.
The operational area of the Eastern Division encompasses Nakasi, Nausori, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rewa, and the Lomaiviti Group. As part of the readiness checks, both land and maritime resources were evaluated to ensure efficiency and response capability.
SSP Cakacaka urged his officers, “The well-being of our citizens relies on our readiness and responsiveness. Let’s keep our focus and commitment to service delivery at a high standard.”
This proactive stance taken by the police leadership embodies a commitment to community safety during potentially challenging times. As citizens gear up for festive celebrations amidst cyclone threats, the assurance of a dedicated police force stands as a reassuring presence in maintaining peace and order.
In summary, the commitment displayed by the Fiji Police, alongside the proactive measures discussed by SSP Cakacaka, provides a hopeful outlook for the community, reaffirming that safety and professionalism are top priorities during the festive and cyclone seasons.
