The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, taking over from Lynda Tabuya, who was dismissed from the position in March. Tabuya’s removal was associated with complaints about her alleged participation in an extramarital affair and a drug-related incident during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. Acting secretary of the party, Sila Balawa, confirmed that the executive committee approved Ro Filipe’s appointment as deputy leader during its meeting on September 25. Ro Filipe holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services and is the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. Previously, he served as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the prior administration.
