The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, taking over from Lynda Tabuya, who was removed from the position in March. Tabuya’s dismissal was associated with a complaint regarding her alleged involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal that occurred during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, announced that Ro Filipe’s appointment as deputy leader was approved by the party’s executive committee during a meeting on September 25th.
Ro Filipe is currently serving as the Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, and he holds the position of Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously acted as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the prior administration.
