The worsening road conditions at the Suva Bus Stand have raised significant concerns among both pedestrians and bus operators. Bus operators report an increasing number of potholes in the area, which complicates navigation, particularly during peak hours when traffic is at its heaviest.
In light of these challenges, the Suva City Council (SCC) has reassured the public that repairing the roads is a top priority. Acting Chief Executive Officer Tevita Boseiwaqa emphasized the council’s commitment to addressing the issue, stating that they have maintained constant communication with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to find a solution.
“We are treating this as a priority,” Mr. Boseiwaqa assured. He explained that the recent wet weather has significantly contributed to the roads’ deterioration, but he expressed optimism that as conditions improve, repair work will commence promptly.
This proactive approach from the SCC highlights their determination to ensure safer transit for both bus operators and pedestrians. With continued efforts, the community can look forward to improved road conditions in the near future, fostering better public transportation experiences in Suva.
