Post Fiji and BSP Bank Join Forces for Rural Banking Boost

Post Fiji announced the renewal of its agreement with BSP Bank to continue providing rural banking services in Fiji. Currently, BSP Bank operates banking services at 36 post office locations.

Isaac Mow, the CEO of Post Fiji, expressed gratitude for the long-standing partnership and highlighted the historical connection between the post office and banking services in Fiji. He noted that Post Fiji has been involved in banking since its inception, having transitioned from a post savings bank to the National Bank of Fiji, then to Colonial, and now to BSP.

This renewal follows a tripartite agreement finalized earlier this week between Post Fiji, BSP Bank, and the Ministry of Finance, aimed at enhancing financial service access in rural regions.

BSP Bank’s acting country head, Rajeshwar Singh, remarked that Post Fiji’s infrastructure enables the extension of banking services to remote communities. Rural customers will benefit from several services, including cash withdrawals up to $500 daily, debit card PIN resets, debit card replacements, and account balance checks. Additionally, they can apply for new bank accounts with BSP.

Singh emphasized that rural customers could also utilize BSP’s digital banking platform, where more than 90 percent of transactions take place. He noted that Post Fiji has played a vital role in delivering banking services to unbanked populations, thereby promoting economic activity in rural Fiji and the nation as a whole.

The collaboration is seen as transformative for the lives of many individuals and communities, with both Post Fiji and BSP Bank looking forward to further innovations and service expansions in the future.
