Minister Filimoni Vosarogo has come to the defense of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka amid criticisms from Unity Fiji Party Leader Savenaca Narube, who has demanded the Prime Minister’s resignation following the government’s failure to pass the Constitutional Amendment Bill. Narube argues that this setback reflects poor leadership and inadequate support for essential reforms.
Responding to Narube’s comments, Vosarogo characterized the call for resignation as “hilarious,” noting Narube’s minimal political influence, which was evident when he secured just 1.45 percent of the votes in the last election. In stark contrast, Prime Minister Rabuka received over 77,000 votes, signifying robust support and a strong mandate to govern.
In a Facebook post, Vosarogo explained that the bill’s narrowly missed majority—just one vote shy—indicates the complexities involved in constitutional reform, rather than a failure of leadership.
