Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the National Federation Party, Professor Biman Prasad, has criticized Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu for expressing confusion regarding the absence of MPs from the NFP and SODELPA during a critical meeting about the Constitution Amendment Bill 2025. Seruiratu had previously questioned the government’s intentions, suggesting that bipartisan discussions held with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka lacked inclusivity as key opposition members were not present.
Prasad retorted by clarifying that the meeting invitation was directed at the Prime Minister and emphasized that their coalition discusses matters internally, asserting, “that’s a matter between him as leader of the Opposition and the Prime Minister.” He expressed disdain for Seruiratu’s claims, describing the opposition’s perspective as “totally confused” and suggested they should adhere to their previous voting stance against the amendment motion.
