Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has rejected claims that some members of the People’s Alliance Party are trying to establish a new political party, calling the rumors unfounded. This statement follows a recent meeting of the party where it was confirmed that the majority of caucus members continue to support Party Leader and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

Kamikamica emphasized that discussions of forming a new party could endanger the nation’s stability. He highlighted that the allegations circulating about certain members aspiring to create a new political faction are simply unsubstantiated rumors.

He stated, “From all the discussions I’ve had, it reflects the views of all caucus members. We are united, and if anyone wants to leave to form a party, I suspect it’s more of a rumor than reality.”

The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the nation’s advancement, mentioning significant upcoming initiatives such as reviewing the constitution, establishing a reconciliation commission, and aiming for a 5% economic growth.

Kamikamica noted that the country recently appointed a new government after 16 years under a different administration, and any speculation regarding the formation of a new party could disrupt the nation’s progress.

He stressed the importance of discipline and focus, urging those contemplating the formation of a new political party to resign instead. “Stability in the country is vital, which is why we quickly supported the Prime Minister to address what I believe is merely rumor-mongering that lacks substance,” he added.

He encouraged Fijians to concentrate on maintaining political and economic stability and to avoid spreading false information.
