Political Shake-Up: New Leadership in The People’s Alliance

The People’s Alliance (PA) party has named Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, succeeding Lynda Tabuya, who was dismissed from the position in March. Ms. Tabuya’s removal was associated with a complaint concerning her purported involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug-related scandal during a government visit to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. On Wednesday, September 25, the party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, announced that the party’s executive committee had approved Ro Filipe’s appointment as deputy leader.

Ro Filipe currently holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, and he is also the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. Previously, he served as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the prior administration.
