Political Shake-Up: New Deputy Leader Takes Charge Amid Controversy

The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as a new deputy leader, succeeding Lynda Tabuya, who was ousted from the position in March. Tabiya’s removal was related to allegations of her involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, confirmed that Ro Filipe’s appointment was approved by the executive committee during their meeting on September 25. Ro Filipe currently serves as the Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services and holds the role of Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously acted as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the former administration.
