The People’s Alliance (PA) party has announced the appointment of Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, replacing Lynda Tabuya, who was ousted from the position in March. Tabuya’s dismissal was linked to allegations surrounding her involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, confirmed that the executive committee approved Tuisawau’s appointment as deputy leader during a meeting on September 25. Tuisawau currently serves as the Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services and holds the position of Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously acted as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the former administration.
