The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as a new deputy leader, following the removal of Lynda Tabuya from this position in March. Tabuya’s departure was associated with allegations of her involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. Sila Balawa, the party’s acting secretary, announced that the appointment of Ro Filipe was approved by the party’s executive committee in a meeting held on September 25. Ro Filipe holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services and serves as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. He previously acted as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 during the prior administration.
