The People’s Alliance party is currently experiencing internal challenges. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that some ministers from the PA are considering departing to establish their own party ahead of the 2026 General Election. While he is uncertain about the identities of these ministers, he mentioned that he has received reports about their intentions.
Rabuka expressed that the ministers are free to pursue their plans if they are dissatisfied with the current state of affairs. He stated, “They will have to come up and tell me who has been thinking of this. Either they lead the party now or form the party later.” Despite the potential departures, he emphasized that the party remains united for the time being.
Currently, notable PA ministers include Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica and others such as Lynda Tabuya, Sakiasi Ditoka, and Siromi Turaga, among others. Rabuka reiterated that he is not aware of any specific plans among Cabinet members to leave the party.
