The safety of citizens during the upcoming festive and cyclone seasons relies heavily on the preparedness and responsiveness of the police. Divisional Police Commander East (DPC/E) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joape Cakacaka emphasized this point during an operational readiness check parade held on Thursday morning in Nausori, which marked his first event since taking up the position.
Addressing the officers from the Eastern Division, SSP Cakacaka stressed the importance of maintaining professionalism at all times. He noted, “I want to remind each of you of the high standard of discipline that defines our profession.” He highlighted that as guardians of peace and safety, police officers must embody values such as integrity, respect, humility, and professionalism in their duties.
With the festive season approaching, which brings joy and celebration to the communities, Cakacaka acknowledged the challenges it poses that demand unwavering commitment and excellence from the police force. He reminded officers that their actions not only reflect their individual conduct but also the reputation of the entire Fiji Police Force.
The Eastern Division includes areas such as Nakasi, Nausori, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rewa, and the Lomaiviti group. As part of their readiness, checks were carried out on both land and maritime resources. Cakacaka urged officers, “Remember, the safety of our citizens depends on our readiness and responsiveness. Let’s maintain our focus and dedication to duty and uphold a high standard of service delivery.”
This proactive approach by the police under SSP Cakacaka’s leadership is a positive step towards ensuring the community’s safety during a bustling time of year. By emphasizing readiness and professionalism, the police are laying the groundwork for a safe and secure festive period, which is crucial for community trust and cooperation.
In summary, the efforts of the police force to prepare for upcoming challenges show a strong commitment to public safety. This readiness not only reassures the community but fosters a sense of security and unity during the festive season.
