Police in the Western Division have received a stern directive to either meet the demands of their roles or resign. The warning was issued by the Divisional Police Commander Western, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the fourth-quarter divisional parade. This address specifically targeted officers working from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.
SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating all reports with equal seriousness and ensuring that proper advice is provided when necessary. He pointed out that the public expects a higher level of responsiveness from police officers and urged them to either step up to the challenge or step down if they are unable to handle the demands of policing.
He reminded his officers to minimize complaints by adhering closely to established processes and procedures. “No report should be taken lightly, and the complainant should receive proper advice to ensure they leave satisfied,” he stated.
Additionally, SSP Vaisewa reinforced the zero-tolerance policy outlined by the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, regarding officers engaged in criminal activities. He warned that any officer who misuses their uniform for personal gain through illegal actions will face consequences.
