The safety of citizens during the upcoming festive and cyclone seasons hinges upon our preparedness and response capabilities. This important message was conveyed by Divisional Police Commander East, Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, during an operational readiness check parade held on Thursday morning. The event, which took place in Nausori, marked SSP Cakacaka’s first parade since his recent appointment and was attended by officers from the Eastern Division.

In his address, SSP Cakacaka emphasized the necessity for officers to maintain a high level of professionalism. “I want to remind each of you of the high standard of discipline that defines our profession,” he remarked, highlighting the critical role of integrity, respect, humility, and professionalism in their duties. As the festive season approaches—a time associated with joy and celebration—he warned that it also brings specific challenges that require steadfast dedication to duty and excellence.

SSP Cakacaka pointed out that the community closely observes police officers, and their behavior reflects on the entire Fiji Police Force. The Eastern Division encompasses areas such as Nakasi, Nausori, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rewa, and the Lomaiviti group, and the readiness checks included evaluations of both land and maritime resources.

“Remember, the safety of our citizens depends on our readiness and responsiveness,” he stressed, urging officers to maintain their commitment to serving the public with high standards.

In summary, this operational check parade underscores the Fiji Police Force’s proactive approach to ensuring community safety during critical periods while reinforcing the standards and values essential in their service.

Looking ahead, the emphasis on readiness and professionalism presents a hopeful outlook for both the police force and the community, as they collectively prepare for a safe festive and cyclone season.
