Authorities have made significant progress in the fight against illegal drug cultivation, discovering over 2,000 marijuana plants in two separate locations within the Malua Range, located in the district of Nasikawa, Navosa. This operation took place on Monday and is part of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to eliminate both marijuana and hard drug production.

Officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department (SOCID) executed successful raids following intelligence reports that pointed to the existence of illicit marijuana farms in the remote area. The challenging terrain required the team to trek overnight into the highlands to ensure the operation’s success.

During the raids, personnel uprooted over 1,800 marijuana plants at one site and more than 900 at another, with sizes varying from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu underscored the importance of these seizures in disrupting the local drug supply chain and highlighted the ongoing efforts to dismantle syndicates involved in drug cultivation and distribution.

ACP Driu also acknowledged the vital role of public assistance in providing information that led to these discoveries and various arrests. He encouraged community members to report any suspicious activities confidentially, offering a list of contact numbers for further engagement.

This operation not only reflects the commitment of law enforcement to tackle drug-related crimes but also demonstrates the power of community involvement in ensuring a safer environment. The proactive approach taken by the police, combined with public vigilance, may contribute to reducing drug-related issues within the region, paving the way for healthier and more secure communities.

In summary, the successful raids in Navosa represent a crucial step in the ongoing battle against illegal drug cultivation, with strong community collaboration playing a key role in these operations.
