The Fiji Police Force successfully defended their title in the 2024 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Competition, narrowly defeating the Army with a score of 20-19 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This victory holds special significance as it commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Fiji Police Force, highlighting the resilience and prowess of the team.

Coach Solomone Nute praised his players for their hard work and dedication throughout the competition, specifically recognizing young Ponipate Tuberi, whose exceptional performance earned him the prestigious man of the match award.

On the other hand, Army captain John Muller expressed disappointment over the loss, acknowledging that they had ample opportunities to secure a win but were unable to convert those chances into points.

Throughout the week-long Sukuna Bowl, the Police showcased their versatility and skill across multiple sports, securing wins in Cricket, Soccer, Boxing, Volleyball, and a Development rugby match. The Army, while managing victories in Netball and women’s rugby, faced a challenging competition overall.

This year’s Sukuna Bowl not only celebrates sportsmanship but also fosters a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition between the two forces, bringing the community together in support.

The positive outcome for the Fiji Police takes on greater meaning, as it embodies more than just athletic achievement—it’s a testament to teamwork, determination, and pride in a shared history. As both teams look forward to future competitions, there is hope for continued growth and improved performances.
