The Fiji Police Force rugby team has received significant support from Shop N Save supermarket in preparation for the upcoming Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Challenge. This marks the third consecutive year that the supermarket, which is locally owned, has sponsored the Police Blues as they gear up to defend their title against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on November 8 at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
George Brown, a security consultant for Shop N Save, presented the sponsorship and praised the officers for their commitment to community service and nation-building. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime, Mesake Waqa, who is also the president of the police rugby team, expressed gratitude for the sponsorship, which will assist with the team’s logistics.
Waqa emphasized that the team is taking their opponents seriously, stating that the Sukuna Bowl is a highly anticipated event for both forces, and they both aim to perform at their best. He noted the military’s desire to reclaim the bowl after recently losing the Escott Shield and acknowledged their likely preparation for the challenge ahead. The specific amount of the sponsorship was not made public.
