The Fiji Police Force rugby team has received significant support from Shop N Save supermarket ahead of their upcoming Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Challenge. This marks the third consecutive year that the locally-owned supermarket has sponsored the Police Blues as they prepare to defend the prestigious bowl against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on November 8 at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
George Brown, a security consultant for Shop N Save, presented the sponsorship and praised the officers for their contributions to the community and nation-building efforts. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime, Mesake Waqa, who is also the president of the police rugby team, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support, stating that the sponsorship will help cover the team’s logistics.
Waqa acknowledged the competitive nature of the event and emphasized the importance of being prepared. “We are not underestimating our opponents,” he mentioned, highlighting that both teams look forward to showcasing their best performance on the day of the match. He noted that despite the military team’s recent loss in the Escott Shield, they would be eager to claim victory in the Sukuna Bowl.
