The safety of citizens during the upcoming festive and cyclone seasons is reliant on the preparedness and effectiveness of law enforcement, stated Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joape Cakacaka, the recently appointed Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division. Speaking at an operational readiness check parade in Nausori, he emphasized the importance of upholding professionalism among officers as they navigate the challenges posed by the festivity.
During his first address since taking office, SSP Cakacaka called on officers to embody the principles of integrity, respect, humility, and professionalism. He highlighted that the festive season, while a time for joy, also brings unique challenges that require dedicated commitment from law enforcement to ensure public safety.
He acknowledged that the community is observant of police actions, reminding officers that their conduct reflects not just on themselves, but on the entire Fiji Police Force. SSP Cakacaka underscored the expansive area the Eastern Division covers, including Nakasi, Nausori, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rewa, and the Lomaiviti group. The readiness checks included evaluations of both land and maritime resources.
SSP Cakacaka reinforced the message that the safety of citizens hinges on the officers’ preparedness and responsiveness, urging them to maintain high standards in service delivery.
In light of the upcoming festive season, there is a hopeful outlook that with the police force’s dedicated focus on readiness and professionalism, citizens will enjoy a safe and secure environment as they celebrate, ensuring harmony and peace in the community.
