The safety of citizens during the upcoming festive and cyclone seasons hinges on the readiness and responsiveness of local authorities. This message was emphasized by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joape Cakacaka, the newly appointed Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, during an operational readiness check parade in Nausori.
In his inaugural address to the officers serving in the Eastern Division, SSP Cakacaka stressed the importance of maintaining professionalism and integrity within the police force. “Each of you embodies the high standard of discipline that defines our profession,” he remarked, underscoring the essential values of integrity, respect, humility, and professionalism that should guide their actions as guardians of peace.
As the festive season approaches—an inherently joyful time—it also poses distinct challenges that demand a committed response from law enforcement. SSP Cakacaka reminded officers that their conduct reflects not just on themselves but on the entire Fiji Police Force, highlighting the responsibility they hold in the eyes of the community.
The Eastern Division’s operations encompass a diverse range of areas, including Nakasi, Nausori, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rewa, and the Lomaiviti group. During the parade, inspections were conducted on both land and maritime resources to ensure they are adequately prepared.
“Remember, the safety of our citizens depends on our readiness and responsiveness,” Cakacaka urged the officers. He called for unwavering focus and dedication to duty to uphold a high standard of service delivery.
This proactive approach adopted by the police leadership is a positive sign for the community, as it showcases a commitment to public safety during challenging times. With increased vigilance and readiness, both the police and the public can look forward to a festive season marked by safety and security.
