A police officer, who is facing allegations of 13 sexual offences, has had the number of charges reduced to nine. The 40-year-old, who is married and has three children, was served with the updated charges by the State. The accused reportedly committed the alleged offences against his cousin when she was just 13 years old.
In court today, he pleaded not guilty to all nine counts authorized by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). DPP attorney Monisha Naidu requested additional time to finalize the pretrial conference, while Joji Cakau represented the defense. Naidu and Cakau are expected to meet soon to conclude the pretrial arrangements.
The officer’s bail was extended, and the case has been adjourned until November 5.
