A police officer facing 13 sexual offence charges has had the allegations reduced to nine counts. The 40-year-old man, married with three children, received the amended charges from the State. He is accused of committing these offences against his 13-year-old cousin.
In court today, the officer pleaded not guilty to all nine charges brought forth by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). DPP lawyer Monisha Naidu asked for additional time to complete the pretrial conference, while Joji Cakau represented the defence. Both lawyers are expected to meet soon to finalize arrangements for the pre-trial conference.
The officer’s bail has been extended, and the case has been postponed until November 5.
