Five police officers were charged last month with various offenses, including assault causing actual bodily harm, serious assaults, and unlawful possession of illegal drugs. All officers have been placed on interdiction while they await the outcomes of their court cases. Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, has reiterated the organization’s commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency by holding officers accountable for their actions when they violate the laws they are tasked with enforcing. He noted that the rise in reports is also linked to increased public confidence in the reporting process, which has been bolstered by enhanced community awareness and outreach initiatives.
