Five police officers were charged last month with various offenses, including assault causing actual bodily harm, serious assaults, and the unlawful possession of illegal drugs. All officers have been placed on suspension while their court cases are pending. Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew emphasized the organization’s dedication to fairness and transparency, ensuring that officers are held accountable for their actions when they violate the laws they are meant to enforce. He noted that the rise in reported incidents is largely due to increased confidence in the reporting process, which has been bolstered by enhanced community awareness and outreach initiatives.
