Five police officers were charged last month with various offenses, including assault causing actual bodily harm, serious assaults, and unlawful possession of illegal drugs. All officers have been placed on interdiction while their court cases are pending. Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew emphasized the organization’s dedication to fairness and transparency by holding officers accountable for failing to uphold the laws they are sworn to enforce. He also noted that the rise in reports can be linked to increased community confidence in reporting, driven by enhanced awareness and outreach programs.
