Three police officers who have been charged in connection with the death of a man at the Samabula Police Station in 2022 are scheduled to return to the High Court in Suva on December 11 for their judgment.

Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe at the High Court on Friday, seeking to have their verdict delivered. Each officer faces one count of manslaughter for their alleged role in the assault of Mikaele Tikoivalenibula.

Tikoivalenibula was taken to the Samabula Police Station following allegations that he had assaulted a 27-year-old mechanic in February 2022.

During the court proceedings, Justice Rajasinghe informed the parties involved that he required additional time to finalize his ruling, leading to the adjournment of the judgment.

Vakatuturaga and Bull are represented by lawyer Shirley Tivao, while Raseisei is represented by Joji Cakau. All three officers are currently out on bail.
