Police Officer Faces Serious Charges in Disturbing Sexual Assault Case

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has approved charges against a police officer for alleged sexual assault and rape involving a minor relative.

Assistant Commissioner of Police for Crime, Mesake Waqa, reported that the accusations date back to between 2019 and 2023, during which the officer is said to have assaulted the victim multiple times at various locations within the Central and Eastern Divisions.

The case was investigated by the Sexual Offenses Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department, which subsequently sought independent legal advice from the ODPP after concluding its report.

Following the ODPP’s guidance, the accused is now facing nine counts of sexual assault, three counts of rape, and one count of defilement involving a person aged between 13 and 16 years.
