An officer from the Ba Police Station has been charged with the destruction of methamphetamine that was stored as evidence at the station. Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew stated that the incident took place in 2019. He confirmed that the officer has been charged and brought before the court following actions taken by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). Mr. Fong Chew emphasized the importance of police officers adhering to the law they are meant to enforce. He noted the implications of having officers involved in illegal activities, which could undermine efforts in the ongoing fight against drugs. Despite the challenges faced by the implicated officers, he assured that the Fiji Police Force would continue to fulfill its responsibilities.
