Police have successfully intercepted a significant shipment of marijuana being transported in a bus within the Northern division. The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu, who reported that the seizure occurred during a routine inspection at the Bagasau roadblock.
Officers from the Tukavesi Police Station conducted a thorough search of the luggage area of the bus, where they uncovered a black bag filled with dried leaves suspected to be marijuana. In addition, during another inspection, authorities confiscated further branches of dried leaves thought to be marijuana on Sabeto road late Monday evening.
Two individuals traveling in the vehicle were arrested in connection with these findings.
This operation highlights the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and ensure community safety. The successful interception of such large quantities not only disrupts illegal drug distribution networks but also serves as a deterrent to potential offenders.
In summary, the police’s proactive measures and effective intelligence gathering have yielded positive results in the fight against drug-related crime, fostering a safer environment for residents. There is hope that continued efforts will lead to a further decrease in drug-related incidents in the region.
