Twelve individuals were apprehended over a 48-hour period due to alleged illegal possession of drugs. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu reported that multiple packets containing a white substance, suspected to be methamphetamine, were confiscated from a residence in Namara, Labasa, where three men were taken into custody. Additionally, over $1,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from criminal activities, was seized.
In the Western Division of Lautoka, a 26-year-old man was caught with two plastic bags containing white crystals, thought to be methamphetamine, along with bullets of dried leaves presumed to be marijuana. In Rakiraki, four men were arrested after authorities found several sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and additional packets of suspected methamphetamine.
Two separate cases in Lautoka led to the arrest of two other men in possession of marijuana sachets. Meanwhile, in Nadi, a 29-year-old man was apprehended for having plants and seedlings believed to be marijuana.
This morning, a raid conducted by K9 officers in Tavakubu, Lautoka resulted in the seizure of white substances believed to be methamphetamine, leading to the arrest of a 44-year-old man.
The Assistant Commissioner emphasized that efforts to target suspected drug dealers remain robust across all divisions. He urged the public to continue sharing information, stating that every detail contributes to the disruption of the illicit drug trade.
