West Police Commander Senior Superintendent Iakobo Vaisewa has issued a stern warning regarding public intoxication, stating that officers will actively arrest individuals who are found to be drunk and disorderly. This announcement comes in response to a surge in reports of such behavior within the division. Last week, police apprehended eight individuals in Ba Town for being intoxicated, along with others for drug-related offenses.

SSP Vaisewa emphasized that law enforcement personnel are patrolling the streets and monitoring communities outside the town center to maintain public safety. He mentioned that arrests have also been made at various district police stations for drug offenses, which primarily include marijuana and methamphetamines, although he refrained from disclosing specific details.

Community policing officers have been engaging with stakeholders and residents to address their concerns about public safety. Renal Prasad, the chief executive officer of Ba Town Council, acknowledged the issue and expressed his intention to meet with the police to discuss solutions, particularly in light of the increasing number of liquor shops in the area that make alcohol more accessible to the public.

This proactive approach by law enforcement and local government officials highlights a commitment to enhancing community safety. By addressing issues of alcohol consumption and drug use collectively, the hope is to foster a more secure environment for all residents.

In summary, the authorities are taking decisive action to combat public disorder and drug offenses, which reflects a community-centered approach to maintaining safety and order. There is potential for positive change as collaboration between police and local officials intensifies.
