Police Conduct Multiple Raids Seizing Illicit Substances and Cash, Numerous Arrests Made

Several raids carried out in the last day led to the uncovering of suspected illegal drugs and money thought to be crime proceeds. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu, mentioned that officers discovered dried leaves, thought to be marijuana, while searching a group of cane-cutting youths at a Tabia farm yesterday, leading to several arrests.

In a different operation, personnel from the Narcotics and Crime Intel Unit and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU) in Vunivau seized multiple packets of dried leaves presumed to be marijuana, as well as money suspected to be from the sale of illegal substances. This operation resulted in one suspect being arrested.

In the Northern Division, the Cakau Operations team found plants assumed to be marijuana on a farm in the Tacilevu area. The farm’s owner is known to the police, and efforts are currently in progress to determine his location.

At Waqadra in the Western Division, officers from the Western K9 Unit and FDDU seized a vehicle believed to be transporting drugs. Inside the vehicle, a bag containing white substances, suspected to be methamphetamine, was found and three men were taken in for questioning.

According to ACP Driu, all confiscated materials have been dispatched for examination. He added that the successful operations were a result of public tip-offs, emphasizing that this cooperation was much appreciated and served as a warning to those engaged in the illicit trade that they will be apprehended.
