Police Chief Issues Ultimatum: Step Up or Step Down!

Police officers in the Western Division have been issued a stern directive to either meet the expectations of their roles or resign. During the divisional parade marking the end of the fourth quarter, the head of the Western Division delivered this warning to officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

Senior Superintendent of Police Iakobo Vaisewa emphasized the necessity for officers to regard every report with equal seriousness and to provide appropriate guidance when required. He stated that the public expects the police to be more attentive and responsive, urging officers to either rise to the challenge or step down if they are unable to handle the demands of policing.

SSP Vaisewa reminded his team to address complaints effectively by strictly adhering to established processes and procedures. He stressed that no report should be taken lightly and that proper advice must be provided to ensure complainants leave satisfied.

Additionally, he reinforced the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s policy of zero tolerance for officers engaging in criminal activities. SSP Vaisewa warned that any officer found abusing their position for personal gain through illegal activities would face serious consequences.
