Police officers in the Western Division have been urged to either meet the demands of their roles or consider resigning.
The warning came from the head of the Western Division during a divisional parade that took place yesterday, which included officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa emphasized the necessity for officers to treat every report with equal importance and provide appropriate guidance as needed. He highlighted that the public expects law enforcement to be more responsive, urging officers to either enhance their commitment to policing or step aside if they cannot meet these expectations.
SSP Vaisewa reminded his team to reduce complaints by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. He stated, “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied.”
Additionally, he reinforced the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew’s zero tolerance policy regarding officers involved in criminal activities, stressing that those who misuse their uniform for personal gain through illegal actions will face repercussions.
