Police Chief Issues Ultimatum: Step Up or Step Down!

Police officers in the Western Division have been urged to meet the demands of their roles or consider resigning. This message was conveyed by the Divisional Police Commander, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the fourth quarter divisional parade, which included officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

SSP Vaisewa stressed the importance of treating every report with seriousness and providing appropriate guidance when necessary. He highlighted that the community expects police officers to be more responsive and emphasized that those who cannot adapt to the demands of policing should step down.

He reminded officers to address complaints diligently by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “Every report must be treated with utmost seriousness, and adequate advice should be provided to ensure complainants leave satisfied,” SSP Vaisewa stated.

Additionally, he reinforced the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s, policy of zero tolerance for officers engaged in criminal activities, emphasizing that any officer who exploits their uniform for illegitimate personal gain will face serious repercussions.
