Police Chief Issues Ultimatum: Step Up or Step Aside

Police officers in the Western Division have been urged to either meet the demands of their roles or resign. This strong message was conveyed by the Divisional Police Commander, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa, during the end-of-quarter divisional parade, which took place yesterday for officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.

SSP Vaisewa emphasized the importance of treating every report with equal seriousness and providing appropriate advice when necessary. He highlighted that the public expects police officers to be more responsive, and he challenged those who are unable to handle the demands of policing to consider stepping down.

He also stressed that officers should tackle complaints effectively by adhering strictly to established processes and procedures. “No report should be taken lightly, and proper guidance should be offered to the complainant so that they feel satisfied with the outcome,” SSP Vaisewa stated.

Furthermore, he reiterated the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s stance on zero tolerance for officers engaged in criminal activities. He warned that any officer found abusing their position or uniform for illegal purposes would face serious consequences.
