Police officers in the Western Division have been given a stern message: they must either meet the demands of their roles or resign. This statement was made by the head of the Western Division during a divisional parade, which took place yesterday and involved officers from Rakiraki to Sigatoka.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Iakobo Vaisewa emphasized the need for officers to treat every report with utmost seriousness and to offer appropriate guidance to those who seek assistance. He indicated that the public expects a higher level of responsiveness from law enforcement and urged officers to either improve their performance or step down if they are unable to meet these expectations.
SSP Vaisewa reminded his team of the importance of following established processes and procedures to reduce complaints. “No report should be treated lightly, and proper advice should be given to the complainant, so they leave satisfied,” he stated.
He also reinforced the Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew’s, stance on a zero-tolerance policy regarding officers involved in criminal conduct. Any officer who misuses their uniform for personal gain through illegal activities will face appropriate consequences.
