Papua New Guinea’s Lachlan Lam expressed confidence ahead of their upcoming match against the Vodafone Fiji Bati. In an interview in Suva, the 26-year-old scrum-half acknowledged that the Bati would be favored to win due to their home-field advantage but emphasized the Kumuls are ready for the challenge.
Lam, who is the son of rugby legend Adrian Lam, highlighted the Bati’s strengths, mentioning their star players Viliame Kikau and Sunia Turuva. Despite this, he reassured that their presence would not impact the Kumuls’ preparations.
As the defending champions of the Pacific Bowl, Lam aims to secure another title, stating that the team is focused on creating opportunities during the game and is determined to perform well. He will partner with Kyle Laybutt, and the duo is eager to make a significant impact at the HFC Bank Stadium on Saturday.
Fellow teammate Nene Macdonald shared his excitement about playing in Fiji, describing it as a dream come true. Macdonald, with 16 Test caps for PNG, noted the importance of winning upcoming matches to qualify for next year’s main Cup competition. He also expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and anticipates a thrilling battle against the Bati.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 8:10 PM.
