PM Urges Constitution Review Amid Calls to Remove Parliament Speaker

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has urged organizations advocating for the removal of the Speaker of Parliament to consult the Constitution. During a press conference, he emphasized the need to understand who holds the authority to initiate such action against the Speaker.

“Those suggesting the removal should refer to their Constitution to grasp the proper authority in this matter,” Rabuka stated. He highlighted that parliamentary operations are governed by constitutional guidelines, underscoring the importance of following appropriate legal procedures in these situations.

“Let’s concentrate on upholding the rule of law and preserving the integrity of our institutions,” he added.
