Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) has scheduled a power shutdown today, November 25, for essential maintenance of power lines. The outages are set to occur in various regions, contingent on weather conditions.
In Labasa, residents can expect power interruptions from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM, particularly affecting areas like Naduna, Nagigi No.11, Nagigi Primary School, and Waigele Airport Road, extending to nearby local businesses.
Meanwhile, residents in Nasese will experience power outages from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This will impact sectors along Domain Road, Allardyce Road, Jackson Street, and other key areas, including various community organizations and institutions.
Savusavu is also slated for a power cut from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, impacting areas like Nacekoro and Tavulomo.
In Nadi, the power interruption will occur from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, affecting all of Nawaka, Nawaka Village, and parts of Kerebula, including several key roads and schools.
EFL advises all residents to treat any power lines in the area as live, given the potential risks if they become electrified unexpectedly.
For further information, customers can reach out to EFL via phone at 132333 or 5333 (for Vodafone, Digicel, or Ink users), or visit their official website. In the event of emergencies, assistance can be sought by calling 913.
Commentary: While power outages can be inconvenient, this proactive maintenance work is vital for ensuring the long-term reliability and safety of the electrical infrastructure. Residents are urged to plan accordingly and appreciate the efforts of EFL to maintain and improve service quality, ultimately leading to a more reliable power supply in the future.
