The Public Service Commission has announced the withdrawal of the appointment of Pita Wise as the ‘Head of Mission’ in Japan. This decision came following significant criticism from the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre and the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement regarding the initial announcement of his appointment.

Pita Wise had previously resigned from his role as Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office last month. He served as the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office since January of the previous year and had also held the same position during the former administration.
