The Public Service Commission has announced the withdrawal of Pita Wise’s appointment as ‘Head of Mission’ in Japan, which had been previously announced. This decision followed significant criticism from the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre and the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement regarding the appointment.

Pita Wise had voluntarily resigned from his role as Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office last month. He held the position of Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office since January of last year and had previously served in the same capacity during the former administration.
