The Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, announced that following legal guidance, the new decision made by Parliament in May under Section 11 of the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 2014 has replaced the 2020 Determination. During a parliamentary session, Ratu Naiqama stated that the 2020 Determination has been effectively annulled, with the 2024 Determination confirming that current salaries for Members of Parliament will be set at 100 percent, effective from August 2024. He emphasized that Members of Parliament are now receiving a salary at the full 100 percent rate.
