The Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, announced that, based on legal counsel, Section 11 of the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 2014 indicates that the determination made by Parliament in May has replaced the 2020 determination. During a parliamentary session, Ratu Naiqama stated that this means the 2020 determination has been effectively annulled, and the new 2024 determination confirms that the current salaries for Members of Parliament will be fully restored to 100 percent starting in August 2024. He emphasized that all Members of Parliament are now receiving 100 percent of their salaries.
